I have a desk job also.

I took 1 week off, then worked from home the 2nd week.  Today is my first day back at the office.  Only time will tell if I need to work part of the day at home, but so far I'm doing well.  Only been here 2 hrs, though. :)

Surgery was 8/1 back to work 8/17.  I have a desk job.

246 in Dec 2008 before banded 1/28/09 at 215 lbs, band crapped 9/09 at 170 lbs and struggled with it and regained to 203 revised to bypass on 8/1/11 and am very happy.

I took off 2 weeks because I had vacation available.  I could have gone back after one week as I had a desk job that required little moving then.

Depends everyone is different with their experience, I suggest you prepare for 2 weeks minimum and go from there.

I am one of the lucky few I am approved for 6 weeks off but will probably go back to work at 4 weeks.  I had my surgery on 12/14 and plan on going back on 01/16.  When I first spoke with the doctors office they told me that normally with no issues they give the ok to go back in two weeks but I didn't want to go bac****il I was eating normal food again so I told them to put down 6 weeks and that is what work approved me for and on top of it I had enough sick time built up to take off 8 weeks if I wanted it.
