Excess skin....

Well I can say that after 6 months and 140 pounds, I have excess skin.  I kid my wife unfortunately that I look better dressed than undressed.  At times I feel like i look like a deflated balloon.  But then I remember where I've been and how much better I am now that I have decided that it is all worth it.  I might have plastic surgery, but my surgeon says I should wait until I am at least 18 months to 2 years out to see how everything settles.

Since I will probably never have the money for the plastic surgery I need I have just accepted the way things are.  I did have my panni done, paid for my insurance, and implants, paid for by me.  My thighs have really been bothering me lately.  The skin on them looks like a pair of baggy stockings that have been twisted the wrong way.  And my poor, flat ass.  Not an ouch of tissue there.  All skin.  My stomach is fine now, except the long scar from my open surgery, and I actually don't mind my breasts any more but I would get them lifted if I could because one of my implants has shifted and it looks wierd.  And I would love to get rid of my batwings while I am at it.
Oh well, at my age it really doesn't matter.  If I was in my 20s I would find a way to have it done since I would have a lot longer to live in my body but now it would be falling apart anyway, weight loss or not.

I know I will need plastics.  I was banded and lost 113 pounds.  I was already starting to not like the extra skin.... even when I had 80 some pounds still to go.  Luckily, I have the money for surgery (I had it all planned and my surgeon picked out before my band eroded.)  Now I am 60 pounds above where I was earlier this year and 1 week post op from my bypass.  I am looking forward to losing all this weight and then looking into plastics again.

For certain people it def is necessary because there is sooo much skin especially when it is the panni. For me, I think it will be a little loose skin and it doesn't seem I will have the panni issue.  My abdomen sucked right back in. As far as my bat wings, I will try to fill up as much of it with muscle so I'm just going to wait and see. I know it is harder for others though especially those who lose alot of weight quickly and had higher bmi.

I agree with Tami.  This excess skin is a "badge of honor (and courage)" in my opinion. I look greata in clothes and if anyone ever see what's under the clothes, he'll just have to be OK with it, too.  As for bras, go and get fitted at a good dept. store.  You may be surprised at how well you will look when you have the right size.

Before surgery, I was self conscious about what I looked like IN clothes and naked. Now... I'm seslf conscious about being naked. I'm not married so if I become intimate with someone again... it's going to be very hard. I hate my arms. I hate my boobs and I hate my stomache. Oh.. and my inner thighs. The outside package is good... but underneath it all I'm a hot mess and if I could afford surgery on all of that I'd do it in a heartbeat!
