Tuscan-Style Chicken & White Bean Soup with Asiago Cheese, Thyme & Rosemary

I made myself a 1/2 C. serving of this stuff and was only able to eat 1/2 of a 1/2 C. !
I never thought 1/4 C. would fill me up! I was actually nauseaus I was so full.
Good thing I was eating slow. I stopped as soon as I got the feeling.

Wow Liz! That's awesome. I can't wait to get to where you are. The idea of getting full from such a small amount of food, blows my mind! Very exciting.

Thanks for posting this! I am adding it to my grocery list.

I never could comprehend getting full on that small amount.  Now after surgery, I view food totally differently, almost as my enemy.  Transitioning to real food has been so hard for me.  Sometimes I will take a bite or two, and then have that look in my face.  My husband knows that it means I am about to excuse myself to go puke that back up.  Foam and slime plus whatever I ate.  Pork is now completely out of the picture.  At least it is obvious really quickly.  I look a****er and protein drinks with disdain.  I know it will get better and keep my eyes on the prize.

Good luck to you!

That looks yummy.

At 18 days I can now do about 3 oz of yogurt or cottage cheese, but anything dense like refried beans or tuna, it's 2 oz (1/4 cup). I too am amazed that so little fills me up.

I have just hit the 4 month mark and I still can only eat 1/2 cup at times.  it is all just so amazing that to think  4 months ago, I  could have eaten half a pizza and not feel full.  I'm loving it, I actually taste the food now, and I have a new appreciation for it.

Im only 3 days post op and can barely drink any protein shake or eat any protein pudding.  Right now I wonder if I will ever be able to eat anything again.  Getting enough fluid in though.

Ditto what all the above have said. Last night I had about 1/2 cup of delicious vegetable soup, but I still needed something a bit more solid, so I took one slice of low-fat processed turkey, and I could only eat half of it.

It's truly amazing to fill up on so little. But a problem I'm running into is that I'm often unsure about whether or not I'm still hungry, and so I choose to err on the side of eating less.

I'm suspecting that I'm eating less than I should. (I KNOW I'm drinking less than I should - on a good day I get 40-45 oz of water down.) I'm keeping a diary, so I know that at 2-3 weeks out, I'm getting an average of 45-55 grams of protein, and 350-550 calories per day.

Those numbers sound right to me, but several times a day I get weak spells. No dizziness or nausea AT ALL, but I to have to sit down. I've checked both my blood pressure and blood sugar, and both seem normal. Any suggestions? If y'all tell me to call my doc I will, but it really doesn't seem serious enough; for example, only once did I even think that I might pass out, and I was okay as soon as I sat down.

Thanks!
