Do you think this is acceptable?
So I went to GNC and was reluctant to buy a huge bottle of shake mix when I wasn't sure I would be able to drink it. The guy at the counter was very helpful and pointed out a protein shake (pre-mixed) called "Lean Muscle Meal". I bought four of them.
There are 24 grams of protein, 6g fat, 170 calories, 2g sugar, and 3g fiber in each 14oz shake.
In the CIB I was supposed to drink there would be 13g protein, 0.5g fat, 150 calories, 7g sugar, 4g fiber.
The only thing that has me concerned is the fat content. Do you think this is too much or will my liver still shrink?

I had one bottle tonight, after having NO CIB today (I couldn't get it down) and this stuff tasted so much better, and actually stopped my stomach pain. I felt so much better after drinking it, even though it doesn't necessarily taste "good" it's just not bad, know what I mean?
What do you guys think?

I think the fat grams are okay, but when I looked it up it said that:
GNC Pro Performance® Lean Muscle Meal is a superior meal replacement formula scientifically designed to support lean muscle mass and fuel muscle cells. This scientifically formulated meal replacement combines a unique blend of whey, egg and milk proteins and other important ingredients such as a complex vitamin and mineral blend, important carbohydrates, fiber, and a blend of healthy fatty acids.
The unique blend was what concerned me. The info was non-specific as to what the percentage of Whey Protein isolate you'd be getting. When choosing a Protein drink, powder, bar or etc. Make sure you know what type of protein you're getting, and how much of it.

It sounds fine to me. I'm guessing they list all the ingredients on the label, right?

Nutrition question~~my doctor's team says to only drink protein drinks that are 100& whey protein. Is there a difference in absorption or what?? Thanks for any response!
It sounds like you are pre-op since you are asking about your liver shrinking. So probably you are Ok with this product for now. But after surgery it would not be what you need. There are many ways to make protein drinks made with whey isolate taste better. You just have to experiment until you find one that works for you. I am 11 months post op and I still use whey isolate in many things. I use it in my Chai tea, coffee, and hot chocolate daily. I make protein shakes with it often. And I use it to make peanut butter and chocolate truffles (lc and sf versions.) I have also made some protein bars in one of my experimentation moods. I use Body Fortress Whey Isolate Protein in Vanilla Cream from WalMart. Also check out www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com and Nik's www.bariatricfoodie.com. They both have great recipes for making delicious shakes and food with protein.
