Has anyone NOT waited 18 months for plastics??
I was just curious if anyone has not waited the recommended 18 months to have plastics... I seriously am anxious to get my girls enhanced, excess skin on tummy and arms fixed as soon as possible... but I don't know if they're is a specific reason to wait... I'm sure it's because of the weight loss window but will that make a huge difference? Also does anyone have any recommendations for a surgeon in or around the Charlotte NC area? Thanks :)
I had mine done 12 and 15 months after RNY.
BUT - that was because of significant medical issues from the draggin skin(muscle tears, joint problems), not just rashes and such. Additionally, my body fat was at 21% and I had been below my surgeon's prediction for 6 months, so there was nothing BUT skin to remove. My reconstructive guys told me before they saw me that there was not way they'd go for such a quick turn around, and then they took one look and scheduled me for surgery.
So - you need to consider exactly where YOU are. Are you really done losing, or just where you think you'd like to stay? How's your body fat content? If you haven't gotten rid of that (and my 21% was unhealthily low, but maybe to 25%), and your body still wants to lose, you don't want to have plastics.

You would be surprised at how much difference it can make having plastric surgery and then losing a little more weight! I think it is more important that you be at a STABLE weight for 6 months than that you be 18 months out (because some people, like me, continue losing beyond 18 months).
I had my plastic surgeries once I thought my weight was as low as it was going to get. I had a LOT of extra skin that I was very depressed about (after losing almost 175 pounds (at the time), I was still having to wear tunic length shirts and loose pants to hide the extra skin), so I was anxious to get it taken care of. Since I had been losing next to nothing for months, I assumed that I was done losing. I dropped another 10 pounds in the 6 months after my tummy tuck (the weight of the skin removed was negligible because I had already had the panni removal) and now have some loose skin again. It is still MUCH better than it was before... it just isn't smooth and taut like it was right after surgery. Because of the large burn-like scarring from my tummy tuck incision turning necrotic I will never bare my tummy in public (not a huge sacrifice since I turn 50 this year!), and it does not show at all in clothes, but it still would have been better (in terms of how I look nude) if I had waited. (The emotional impact of the extra skin, however, made it NECESSARY to do it when I did, so I don;t regret it.)

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I also think it is best to wait because I really thought I was done losing and wanted to get my arms done SO bad but the surgeon all suggested waiting until I was 18 months out so I sucked it up and said ok. I glad I did now because I ahve lost another 15 pounds since then and seem to be still losing a little. I was 18 months out on the 7th and now Im starting to look at it again. Im just really nervous about letting someone do my arms bc I dont want them to look bad.
I am having plastic surgery next Friday and I will be 12 mo and 1 week from gastric bypass. My weight has stabilized and I haven't lost any weight in 3 months. I am having a 3/4 belt lift, breast lift and augmentation and some lipo done on my legs.
While most would say that at my current weight I have more weight to lose, I have talked to my nutritionist and I am eating at the maintenance level now. I am comfortable where I am at and losing more weight would only make my arms, legs and neck look worse than they already do. If I end up losing more weight, I am fine with that, but I am not trying to lose more at this point.

Thanks for the responses ladies... I am 9 months out and my excess skin is not a medical issue for me just a mental issue... I am not sure if will lose anymore weight... the weight loss seems to have come to a slow------slowww pace lately... I was just thinking about getting at least my breast done soon... but I will probably wait because I definitely do not want to have any regrets or additional surgery because I jumped the gun... Once again thanks for your input... it helps a lot! :)
At only 9 months out, you are probably NOT done losing. It is very normal for the loss to slow down around 9 months out (and even more around 12 months out) as you lose the caloric malabsorption and you body weight drops (thus dropping the daily caloric deficit and lengthening the time it takes to lose a pound).
