Antacid medicine

Quick question, post surgery I was told to take a prilosec every day to control the acid.  My question is I am 16 months post op and still taking it.  Do we take it forever or is there a time where we don't have to?

I was on it 30 days.  But I didn't have any GERD issues or anything pre-op. 

Did you have any acid problems pre-op?

Do you remember who it was that told you to take the Prilosec? It's quite possible that you mis-heard.

My doctor said I'd be taking Prevacid for the rest of my life.

My surgeon wants us to take it the first year. I was on Nexium before surgery.
