Ok, I was told Egg Whites only, but I have now moved to the next phase of the diet and I forgot to ask about Egg Yolks.  I don't like to eat them right out of the egg, but I like the flavor of them in egg salad.  Are they a for sure NO-NO or ???

I was able to eat them as soon as I went to soft foods.

Egg yolks aren't bad per se. When you look at the egg most, if not all, the protein is in the white. I believe ALL the fat is in the yolk. There has been back and forth over the years whether the fat in egg yolks are good for you or bad for you.

I skip them and I'll tell you why. Keep in mind I'm four years post-op, but maintaining weight is a calories game all the way. My egg, with a yolk is 74 calories. Without a yolk, it is 17 calories. This becomes relevant when I make my beloved egg scrambles. I'd much rather spend my caloric/fat intake budget on cheese than that egg yolk!

This lifestyle is all about choices. You have to make the ones best for you. At the stage you are in now, it's going to be hard to overeat your calories so I'd say there is no harm in egg yolks so long as your post-op eating plan doesn't prohibit them. You might need to reassess that in the future (or not).

Thanks Nik, That helped BUNCHES!! :)  And I agree id prefer to use my calories elsewhere. Like I said im not much of a yolk eater, but every now and then I crave egg salad.  I did however use 3 hard boiled eggs and only used 1.5 yolks just to get that flavor in there since I wasn't sure!
