Tomato never bothered me but everyone is different.  If you like tomato stuff, I would say try just a couple bites and see how it goes (try it at home, though, in case it doesn't go well).

I've had no issues with tomatoes or salsa.  Love them both... surgery date 12/6!

Am I over-cautious? - no you are not...

And almost 4 years out... I can't eat too much tomato sauce. And always make sure I use one with no sugar added.  I love salsa, and eat that a lot unless I have ulcer or really irritated pouch...
But - now I probably have an ulcer ... and I was kind of ignoring that... but a serving of home made tomato soup made me cry... pain.. and more pain...
So be careful.

New pouch or irritated pouch - the acid in tomato may really do a number on you... And the sugar - if you do not dump ... that still may start carb - blood sugar up and downs.

I had 60 mL of V8 3 days post-op. Didn't cause me any trouble, but everyone is different.

I was cleared for ketchup, tomatoes and salsa at one week post op. Never had any problems with them. I do use the Heinz No Sugar Added ketchup, though, to cut the sugars.
