Normal pain post op?

I'm 9 days post op and was just wondering if my pain is normal. I haven't been doing the pain meds but all of my pain is on the right side of my abdomen around where the Jp drain was. At times it seems swollen and sticks out but mostly has a burning feeling inside. Obviously it's worse when getting up, sitting, or rolling over. Sometimes it's really bad and sometimes wakes me up. Is this normal?

that sounds like its pain within normal limits. Is there any redness, swelling, drainage or warmth around the sore area? There may be an internal stitch that's pulling on something, which is why you'd have pain while making those movements.

If it gets unbearable, or if there is any of those four things i mentioned, call your surgeon's office and ask for advice.

My drain was on my left side and it was indeed the most painful point.  I spent 3-weeks on pain meds...thought I was going to die, but each day gets better.

I think it's normal...hope you feel better soon.

I am 16 days post op and can completely relate...my drain incision is on the left side and is the only area of pain I have had at all. I did develope an infection within a few days of surgery and took antibiotics for a week...Even tho infection has cleared, that area is still sensitive. My surgeon told me that it is common as that is the "camera port" and probably beat up a little more during the actual surgery. I will tell you a tip that helped me...I got a "compression" bandage (back/waist support) and wore it a lot during the day. It also helped with removing built up fluid in the area. I hope this helps and you continue to heal up quickly!!!! Take care.
