I got dehydrated and had low potassium because I couldnt drink or eat because i was so nauseous and I ended up spending from sunday to wednesday in the hospital. Now i am retaining so much fluid that I have gained 15 lbs and I cant get it off! So trust me when I say you do not want this!!!!!
I still remember a support meeting I went to last year at the hospital where I had my surgery, and the nurse who works with my surgeon saying to the group (comprised of befores, just had it, and long timers) "Now, for those of us who have been out for a while, drinking/guzzling a bottle of water is really easy".
I sat there thinking, "No, not for me". I STILL can't "guzzle" my drinks. I STILL have to take around 15 minutes to get in 20 oz of H2O/Crystal LIght. If I try to "guzzle" it hurts like heck. I don't know why, BUT;
I DO it. I have my drink with me at all times, and I just darn well do it!! Think about it this way if it helps (it helps me!) Do you want your skin to get that "old, dried out" look?? I am vain!!! :D
I want to look dewy and fresh by gosh!!! I want to have nice, soft, lips, and a dewy complexion, and I know that hydration helps! :D Go for the looks if the health aspect doesn't get you motivated!! :D
Be beautiful.....and DRINK!!!! (H2O that is! :D

You're dehydrated and need to get a)about 100 more ounces of water (yes water) in per day, or b) go to the ER and get an IV to hold you over until you can get 100 ounces of water in you a day. When you start getting enough water in your throat will stop hurting, the headache will go away (it's from the brain not having enough water surrounding it) you will urinate normally - and not have to worry about kidney damage from being dehydrated and you won't have to worry about fainting while driving, working or crossing the street. Secondary to all this is you won't lose weight, your sking will not shrink back - dehydrated, snake skin does not shrink back, you won't feel well or look good. I fainted early out and chipped my tooth on the bathroom floor. I wasn't that dehydrated but obviously my body thought otherwise. We have to double our water intake once we're dehydrated - that's 64 oz + 64 ozs = 128 ounces until we're better. then we can go back to the 64 recommended by our docs (FOR A REASON). Most of us find 64 ounces isn't enough - we up it by 16 or 24 ounces or more to feel good and let the surgery do it's job and let us lose weight. Our kidneys are working overtime already, why stress them more? If they shut down from dehydration you'll be very sorry you didn't force the water when you had the chance. IT's a big deal - water immediately after weight loss surgery, when we're in the losing phase and in maintenance. I feel like crap when my water intake goes down. I feel great when it's up. Do yourself and your doc a favor - follow the rules - all the rules. Food, water, exercise and vitamins.
There's a reason you had this surgery, don't give yourself a complication now. I found that making myself have a bottle of water first thing in the morning was key. No breakfast till I had one bottle down. Another bottle on the way to work, one during the morning (before lunch), two more in the afternoon and one on the way home from work. Then I allow myself some coffee, smoothies, tea or something else I want more. But at that point I have most or all of my water in.
Keep your appointment - you'll need the help from the IV until you get your fluids in like you should.

I was dehydrated a few months out and had to go to ER...it was hard for me as well and it really is just pushing yourself to get it down even if you have to get a timer to remind yourself to drink. You can actually have life threatening problems if you stay dehydrated for a prolonged period of time.
