1year surgiversary miracle
Today marks one year since my RNY. I saw my surgeon yesterday and all my labs are great. When he asked me if I was satisfied with my weight loss I said I would like to lose 10 more pounds. He replied, (wait for it......) "I don't think you need to lose any more weight. " I don't know about anyone else, but no doctor has ever said that to me in my entire 58 years.
In April 2010 I weighed in at family Dr office, 279# and remember thinking that was pretty darn close to 300. So I started getting it together and when I had my first appt w/surgeon I was 257. Day of surgery was at 237 and yesterday I weighed 145 (I am 5'2") Dr goal weight was 155 mine is 135 and even think I could go 125 and still be okay. But am happy where I am and if I don't don't lose anymore I will be satisfied. My bod may be where it wants to be as I think it has been about 6 weeks since I lost anything. I am one of those people who don't do well mentally in the winter so I may get better results once spring is here.
Anyway, Yea for me.

congrats!
I'm only 5'2" as well and I put my goal weight with my surgeon as 150 because honestly I don't think I will ever reach it. I guess it's impossible to realize that weight when I've been overweight since I was 10 years old.
I hope to be saying the same thing at my one year post op but I honestly don't see it... I guess we will see.

I forgot to look at your surgery date so don't know how far out you are. I can tell you that if you follow your plan, you will get there. I was not as committed to exercise as I could have been.
I was not militant about following the food plan. I spent time figuring out how I could adapt recipes to be within the parameters of my surgeon/nutrition recommendations. I allow myself a TBSP of 66% dark choc chips, 1 TBSP dried cranberries and 1 TBSP pistachios at night and that satisfies my sweet tooth and is semi healthy. I think it would have been easier if I was younger. That said, this is a life change for me and I feellike I can stick with it for the rest of my life.
Good luck to you. If you made it through the first three months the rest is much better. I wasn't sure I would make it. My kids do not remember me ever throwing up when they were home. That's all I did the first three.
