Oh no.... High B6 and Powerade

Today I got my initial letter about my labs (get a copy of the full thing next week).  They said my B6 is high and to be sure to read the labels of any energy drinks or protein shakes. I don't do energy drinks and my protein shakes don't have it.  Then I happened to look at my favorite drink post -op..... Powerade Zero. It has 15% OF THE b6 daily value of a 2000 calorie diet, so it is more than that for me. (also 15% B3 and B12)
 I am so sad.

How high is your B6 and how much of the Powerade do you drink?  I'm thinking maybe you just need to cut back on it, maybe you don't have to cut it out altogether, depending on how high your level is.

I don't have the numbers yet, but I'll post them as soon as I get them next week.  I drink a lot of Powerade... it and Mio flavored water, skim milk are  about all I tolerate easily.   Maybe 24-32oz a day?

Well, hopefully your level is just a little high, not sky high, and you can still have one glass or so a day.  I practically live on iced tea and I would absolutely hate to have to give it up and find something else to drink.

alot of us have a high B6 level just from taking 2 multis per day.  So many surgeons and PCP;s dont even check B6 levels which is a mistake.  Do you take a b complex?  If so, stop it because if B6 gets high enough it can get toxic. If it is just a little high, dont' worry.  My doctor told me that it is coming from food or drinks it is okay unless you are drinking like you are vitamin waters all day long, if you drink one or 2 a day it is okay, so they are okay but in reason.  Try drinking one or 2 of them and then find a drink you like without much B6 - I dont think you will find anything without any, but you can find one with very little or just drink some plain water -you can also water them down a little.

You dont' have to worry about any of the other B vitamins we pee out any excess of all of them - it is just B6 that is the problem.

B1 and B12 are really important that you have alot and they should be high but B6 can't be
