RNY on 02/01/12
I have 5 beautiful reasons ( 4 kids and a husband ) and then i have several un-controllable issues..I felt that the gastric bypass we suit me better in trying to become more healthy. Just know that no matter wat reason others has chosen to have the WLS for it is ur choice at the end of the day...Gud Luck Love!!

I walked into my consultation leaning towards the sleeve...& walked out convinced I would have RNY.
I would first recommend seeing your surgeon and getting their opinion. My clinic has a seminar that I attended where they explain the good vs the bad about each surgery option..including the band. That was very informative.
Then I met with my surgeon of choice. I asked him specifically what surgery he recommended for ME. He's got over 25 years of experience, has seen every success and failure. He recommended RNY. He said with the amount of weight I had to lose (over 100 lbs) I needed to have the malabsorbtion effect to increase my odds of success. He said the RNY would get the weight off if I followed the plan (guaranteed). The sleeve would require more work/committment from me.
Having failed at so many diets...I thought I would fail with the sleeve. The thought of having surgery and failing vs just going with RNY seemed like an easy choice. Add that to my surgeon's opinion...hey, I'm trusting him with my LIFE on that table...shouldn't I give his opinion more weight in my decision? These things lead me to RNY. I am very happy with my decision.
