Buyers remorse

I had the most awful time with buyers remorse.  And it's something that you will half to work through.  Mine hit post surgery in a big way.  Now I am over it.  I've accepted it.  I love getting on the scales and watching the numbers go down and I am already feeling much better and I am not even 3 mos. out.  My best to you.

I had some buyers remorse for about the first month on and off.  As it got easier to get in my water, protein and food, I felt less regret.  At the same time, the enormity of the lifestyle change freaked me out and I couldn't believe that I had left someone mess with my perfectly good, god given digestive system.  Luckily, I had anticipated having some buyers regret and I had written out several reasons why I had choosen to do this.  I also asked some of my close friends to remind me of these reasons from time to time.  This helped alot and now, at 7 weeks out, I can't say that I really have any signficant buyers regret.  While I'm still adjusting and finding my new normal, it doesn't feel so hard or scary anymore.
Hang in there and I hope things start to feel better soon!

I'm still pre-op. It's my birthday today, and I can't imagine giving myself a better gift than to be more healthy and happy! I would suggest looking at these awesome before/after pics and remind yourself of how much better you will look and feel. Good luck!

I believe in me...the best is yet to be!

I am one week post- op and I feel ya!  I can barely get my drinks and proteins in and I feel crappy. I think, what have I done, but I also look forward to the day when I will feel good. I hate sf jello and would rather not have it. Pre-surgery I liked the powdered drink mixes, now I don't even want them.  I think we just need time.

I had the lap band removed and changed to the RNY,  so I should expect some down time.

Hello Beejay,

I am also revising from the band to bypass on the 21st and I am apprehensive as I
do not know what to expect.    Did you have any problems with having the band
removed ... doyou have any advice for me ???

Sincerely,

Audrey

 Hi Audrey,
The lap band did not work for me at all.

How long is your pre-op diet?

All I can say (at this time because I am still newly revised) is to try to have your mind ready for the post op liquid diet. This is more restrictive (at first) than getting the band was. You won't go back to "normal" as fast. I am still quite swollen and it does not look to be going down anytime soon.
You will be ok.

I start my pre-op diet on the 14th/15th and then Surgery on the 21st
Let me know how you are doing and if there is anything else I need
to know as far as the procedure goes.

Thanks

Audrey

Hi Audrey,
I had a band for 5 years; lost 170 lbs. but gained 100 of it back due to band problems.  I had the band removed and RNY on 1-3-12 and have lost 40 lbs.  The only thing that is different for me is that now I know what real restriction is supposed to feel like....now I actually look like someone who had a weight loss surgery instead of eating a plate full of food that was slightly less than everyone else's....now my plate is like 3 bites and I'm full.  Just remember protein, vitamins, and water - with the lap band I did not even take a multi-vitamin so the vitamin regimine has been an adjustment.  I get full off of taking pills LOL.  It's like we should have felt when we had the lap band....I feel like I got jipped but I realize now it was all part of my journey.  I got lots of practice in before the real deal (RNY).  Good luck to you!

I had rny 2/20 and I had it bad at first but now I only think about it every other day. I'm pretty sure it's normal :).
