I know many of us suffer from pcos and weight loss is the only "cure" so I'm just curious if your symptoms went away?

Edited to reword so my meaning isn't misunderstood.

Weight loss surgery is definitely not a cure for pcos, you have been horribly misinformed.

There is no "cure" but weight loss (not weight loss surgery specifically lol) has been known to get hormone levels back on track and alleviate symptoms. I'm not misinformed at all.

Heck, after my first week out of surgery and that small little loss of weight I finally got my missing cycle after months of it being MIA.

Alleviate or minimize symptoms maybe, "cure" no.

its only been four months... and i am on the Mirena, but i do feel better than i have in years.  I have noticed the facial hair has also decreased.

the relationship of estrogen and fat is well documented.  Losing the fat, reduces the estrogen which should help regulate the hormones.

I have PCOS and I'm hoping this weight loss will help control it. My MIA periods hopefully will become more of a visitor and I might be able to have a family someday.

i also have PCOS...and i am hoping that the weight loss with help control it.  it is such a horrible thing to deal with.  I know in Dr Kruger/Streeter/Colocchio's office at the nursed education class i believe the chart stated it would likely rid you of (i believe) 70% of your pcos issues.  That made me very excited since i have been fighting the battle for 15 years.  And since surgery 1 month ago i have noticed the dark skin patches on my neck and between by breasts is 95%gone..so im hoping to kick some pcos A**

Best Wishes to all

Right now I'm on my period and craving chocolate....so that is one thing different. I don't think all the symptoms have gone away but my periods are back. AND they are more painful then ever.

PCOS is caused by low levels of insulin resistance.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), also known as Polycystic Ovarian Disease, is often caused by a hormonal imbalance brought on by Insulin Resistance-related obesity. It's a disorder that affects an estimated 5 to 10 percent of all women, and is one of the leading causes of infertility. A root cause of PCOS is Insulin Resistance.

I was abl to conceive twice while working on my wieght and following a low carb diet. It is possible if you can work on getting your body less resistant.

i have been told my diabetes type two will be cured by my clinic after surgery.

You're right, there is no cure. But I now have normal cycles and my hair is turning back to red from the brown my PCOS turned it.

I still have excessive hair growth and skin tabs though. I'm hoping theyll reduce as my weight decreases.  I expect my mid range wheight gain (the area above the pannis) will be among the last to go, if it ever does. I've read that some have reported to Lypo to finally rid themselves of it.

All my doctors agree that the WLS can only improve the PCOS symptoms.

I think oh has a sister site? Soul cysters? You may find more info there, they have a large WLS community too.
