i know this is a concern before the surgery, but im wondering how it works after the surgery..
i have PCOS and im loosing very slowly i hate to gain weight if i get the shot..
anyone out there had the shot and gainweight? or still kep loosing weight
please let me know im thinking of getting the minera but i find the shot more easy and i hate to think of "accidently" getting pregnant and having the minera inside my uterus..
thanks

I'm interested in responses to this as well. I can't use most types of hormonal birth control but my OBGYN thinks that the depo shot would be safe for me. I also can't tolerate spermicides. I really hate having to rely solely on nonspermicidal condoms! Talk about taking a gamble!
Hopefully someone can provide Monica and I some good info on this.
Thanks!

My sister gained a lot of weight when she was getting the depo shot..so I decided to go a different route..
I after I misused the pill and had my first daughter my OBGYN decided the Mirena IUD was a good option for me. I had it in for 2.5 years..there are a lot of mixed feelings about the IUD but it worked for me. I got pregnant 2 years after it was removed due to another failure on my part with the pill...and then pregnant for the 3rd and final time when my 2nd child was 4 months old..due to..you guessed it..a failure on my part while using the nuva ring.
I've obviously failed a lot at using BC..lol..but the IUD was solid!

many years ago I used the birth control patch and it worked great - I actually used it to stop my periods due to severe iron deficiency but either way, it worked great. You wear it for a week and you dont have to remember to take it, and you dont have to worry about malabsorption. You do have to remember to change it after the week though. For people with iron problems, you can wear it all the time instead of 3 out of the 4 weeks and it stops your period completely - that is what did.
I am 2 years post op and maintained a weight of 15-175 for the past year. My GP recommended Depo shot for treatment of Andomyosis ( similar to endometriosis ). Well, let me tell you, within the first 6 weeks my weight soard to 207. I was due for shot 2 at the end of March and decided no way. I had 0 eating changes ( a stickler for the rules of RNY ). I had cut back on my workouts as the drug also left me weak and exhausted as did the prescription strenghth Reactine that I now need to take otherwise my entire body is a hives ( this is also that to be associated with the shot ). Needless to say, I will never take that medication EVER again and am desperately working to re-lose the gain.
Stay away from the stuff, it's bad news!!!
