I know what you mean, although it was sort of an emergency situation and I think the best she could do.  The whole situation is really tragic.  Her husband has now been released from the hospital and is in a nursing home, where he is expected to be for several months, at least.  One of her children is currently in a psychiatric hospital.

This whole thread started up a guilt trip again. A little over two years ago I was looking for a cat. I found one named Kazoo at Love A Stray in Avon. She was four years old and nobody would adopt her because of a small corneal scar. She is still there. Living out her life in a shelter. I got two other hard to adopt cats from another shelter instead. One with a worse corneal scar and one born with a big hernia who somehow lost his tail. They really were homeless and living on the streets of Cleveland.
I still wish I could have taken Kazoo. She really needs a home.
