For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

– James 2:10 (NIV)

Today’s commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org

One of the roles of the law is to remind us of our great need for grace. We all stumble in one way or another, but this passage tells us that a white lie makes us as guilty before God as murder. Don’t be deceived—the God of the universe is a holy God. That is why He sent Jesus. The only one who can stand before God unblemished is God Himself. The Law faithfully reminds us of our need for a Savior.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

I think this is one of those verses most people dont like to think about and may run from. So many of us get wrapped up in religion. We like to stand as judges against each other and make excuses for our own down falls. It is hard to let in the fact that our little trangression is held in the same light as the sins of someone we are in judgement of.
I try very hard to keep this in mind. Also forgive so you can be forgiven. Also as you judge so shall you be judged.
Jesus is our Salvation. If we could keep the Law He wouldnt have had to leave Heaven to suffer and die for us. The Law is Holy and we are not, except through Christ. Our pride makes us think sometimes that we have something to do with our rightousness. On the contrary it is a gift bought and paid for thru the blood of Christ. Our pride is yet another sin that He coveres for us.
Thank you Jesus for covering the bill!!!! and fullfilling the Holy Law of God that we are made clean and righteous through you!!!
