What's the big deal with string cheese?
I've seen soooo many posts from people here extolling the virtues of string cheese as a snack.
What am I missing? I've never had it before so I've now tried a few brands and I just don't get it. It's got no real flavour - just a vague milkiness and salt. The texture is odd and it's no great shakes nutritionally.
Its not revolting or anything, I just don't get it, I guess...and I love cheese!

Personally I love the flavor, but I also love the fact that it's individually wrapped. So portion sizes are easy.
As far as I know basically it's just like mozzarella.
It's easy to grab one and eat on the go, rather than getting out the chunk of cheese, cutting a piece off, rewrapping chunk of cheese and putting back in the fridge. Much easier to just grab and go. It's not too bad nutritionally, way better than grabbing some crackers etc.
Just my two cents worth....

It is mozzarella.
So I guess the OP doesn't like mozzarella? At least not in a reduced fat form?
Anyway, another nice thing about it is that it's a soft food so we can eat it early out when our food choices are limited.

I love mozzarella (especially fresh mozzarella aka bocconcini) and always buy the low-fat stuff - that's what I expected this to taste like. But the mozzarella I buy isn't anywhere near as salty - it reminded me much more of the cheese curds my husband likes (aka squeaky cheese) but even saltier...
the packaging IS convenient - and that's a plus.

I find the saltiness varies by brand. There are brands that are too salty for me.
Plus, when I was early out, everything was too salty!

The low fat choice ha 2.5 gr of fat and 8 gr of proteins... pretty good...
