Dry Milk?
I have been reading my post op materials and it says that I can get some of my protein in by having my protein powder and 1% milk and adding a cup of dry milk. Right? But If I am trying to keep my sugars below 5grams, and all the powdered milk I find has 12 grams .... I'm confused. So I didn't get any.
I know the sugars in natural fruit juices wont make me sick, but I am concerned about the sugars in the dry milk. Can I use, or not?

I tend to shy away from milk because of the lactose - other than my lactose intolerance, it's alot of carbs for my plan. I usually use unsweetened soy milk, almond milk, etc with mixing protein suppliments. When they say "keep sugars below 5g", is your plan meaning simple sugars or does it also account for lactose/fructose/etc? Might want to consult your NUT on specific questions. Also, if you're not getting sick from natural fruit juices (which were not allowed in my plan after the first 3 days and, since I dump on fructose, would make ME very sick), you likely won't be dumping from lactose.

I double proteined ( a totally made up word on my part) up my shakes by adding dry milk. Don't get worried about the "sugar"..that's lactose. People get concerned about carbs and sugars but it's really the simple white carbs..white sugar, white flour, white rice, oreo cookies that you need to be mindful of.
I think adding some dry milk is a great idea.
