Six Days Postop/100% Better

Six days post op and I'm feeling 100% better. I'm in no pain and my emotions have finally stabilized. It's as if those horrid days immediately following surgery never happened. I'm back to where I was pre-surgery, when I was convinced that I was doing the very best thing I could for myself and I'm no longer regretting having the surgery. I am still convinced, however, that more should be said about the emotional toll or impact of undergoing this surgery before you are wheeled into the OR, especially if you're already at risk for a meltdown afterward. Some of you told me your doctors addressed this issue. I'm sorry to say that mine didn't, but I plan to change that. Maybe they just haven't had anyone wigg so completely out before and that's why it didn't occur to them to say more, I don't know, but I still plan on arguing my case when I see the surgeon on Wednesday.

Anyway, I'm feeling so fine that I even went to church and Sunday School this morning, much to the surprise of nearly everyone, including the pastor! My Sunday School teacher asked if I had picked out my bikini yet. I told him that I may never have enough nerve to wear a bikini, but even so, I have bathing suits ranging in sizes from 32 down to 16 so I don't have to worry about that anytime soon!

I am so glad you are feeling better... AND that you plan to address the way the situation with your meds was handled. You should NOT have had to suffer through that!

So glad to hear that you are feeling better!

I have to ask since I'm new to this board. Is there a problem with medications "absorbing" shortly after surgery?

Hugs,

Hi Pam,

There's a difference in the way your body absorbs meds and for that reason you can no longer take NSAIDs or anything that is time-, extended-, or slow-released. And there are other issues regarding meds that I can't recall right off here. There's a whole chapter on the subject in the book, "The Real Skinny on Weight Loss Surgery." It's well worth the purchase price to buy it and read it. Good luck!

Great new and great post! Good to see your feeling so much better and recovery is progressing nicely. I hope you continue in this positive swing and make your doctor understand what exactly you went through in order for him to find his awareness for future patients.

Happy Easter

Wonderful, Trianni!!!!!   You have made great strides and you will continue.  Here's how I look at things: Now you are going to be a walking book of information to help the next person on Obesity Help who is struggling with problems that you went through. Best wishes to you!
