Not moving after all..

As many know, my husband and I have been looking into, and were strongly considering a move to CA to be closer to our adult sons and their wives. While being able to be closer to our sons and their wives is still a desire, it's not something that we will be doing for the next couple of years.

I'm sharing this to let you know that I will continue to lead the in person support groups in Raleigh NC. Of course, we will continue to have our monthly general support group and I will see about resuming a number of the special interest groups that I have also run, such as

  • Grads group which focuses on the concerns of those who have entered the maintenance phase of their journey
  • Over 50 which focuses on the issues particular to those who start with very high body mass indexes
  • Making Changes, which as formerly known as the Beck group based on Judith Beck's book entitled The Beck Diet Solution which is looks at and addresses behavior issues associated with emotional eating

I welcome your input and any suggestions that you may have to make the support groups an even more valuable resource to those considering WLS, those who are in the midst of their weight loss, and those of us who have reached our maintenance phase of our journey.

If you live nearby, I look forward to your input and to seeing you soon at an upcoming meeting.

All the best,

Hi Donna,

I thought so too. We were in the midst of a sale and it fell apart in the 11th hour. My heart has just been broken, but I'm trying so very hard to regroup and see my glass as half full, instead of half empty.

I know that we will be here in Raleigh for at least the next 2 years and I'm afraid that by the time we can consider a move again, we won't be able to make the move, but we will just have to wait and see what the future holds.

I hope we'll be able to get to know each other virtually and maybe have the opportunity to meet in person some time in the future.

Although, I am very sad for you that you won't be able to be closer to your kids (I'm only 3.5 hours away from mine, and that's too far for me...I can't imagine being across the country), I am very happy that NC will get to have your smiling face for at least the next two years!

Hi Lisa!

Thanks!! The good news is that our youngest will be graduating from HS in a couple of months and the boys will be coming to celebrate, so we'll be seeing them soon.

That eases some of the pain.

Gee Barbara, and I was looking forward to getting to finally meet you. Next time you are in town we definitely must hook up. Sorry you can't be nearer to your kids. I bet they would have loved that. Hopefully, soon it will happen for you.

All the best.

Hi Jan,

Not being able to be closer to the kids was the REASON for the move and it just breaks my heart that we won't be able to do. The prices were exploding as we were making offers. It was unbelievable and is part of why I think that we may never make it back... But, that is too much for my aching heart to handle right now, so I'm just trying to focus on the positive and not think about what the future may or may not hold.

What is sure, for now, is that we'll be in NC for at least the next two years, so I'm trying to focus on making as full a life here as we can.

It is likely that it will be several years before we can get back to Ca, but if and when we can, I look forward to meeting you as well.
