OT - Dyson vacuum
I just bought one 2 weeks ago and it is going back. I have a Chow and a Scottie and the Chow hair gets hopelessly wrapped around the roller and has to be cut out after just a couple of rooms. Also, any throw rugs with fringe cause into shut the roller off and you have to bend down to the side of the bottom unit to turn it back on. I loved that it was so light and easily controlled. On my third use, however (and 5 times of having to cut the Chow hair off the roller), it lost all suction. I turned it off to see if there was hair accumulated somewhere (found none in anywhere that I could examine). When I went to turn it back on, it would only turn on with the "brush on/off" button (which is NEXT to the power button). No way to turn it on and not have the brush spinning. It was spitting out dirt all over my kitchen floor, and when I went to use the attachment to at least suck up the little fur balls and dust trails it created, it wouldn't turn on at all,
I know they are supposed to have great customer service buti was already very unhappy with spending almost $400 for a vacuum and then having to cut hair off the roller all the time, but if the animal hair -- on a vacuum specifically advertised for homes with animals! -- is going to result in the whole unit getting somehow clogged, it is useless. For that kind of money, I do NOT expect to have to take the damn thing apart after only two full uses!
My Boss vacuum weighs a ton and is hard to push, but it has been picking up the Chow hair for almost 2 years now without a single problem, so I guess I will stick to that.
