One week out, my good suit still fit just fine.  Two weeks out, it was falling off me.  (9 pounds is not enough to change sizes for most WLS patients early on).  You will experience that too.

Perspective.

After surgery, I lost about 1.5lbs a day for 6-7 days.
And then I stopped. Didn't lose a thing for almost 2 weeks. It's not a stall or a plateau, it's your body clinging to your fat, screaming, "OH MY GOD, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? I'M STARVING!!!"

It's natural, and it happens. It happened to me, it happened to hundreds of others, it might happen to you. And if it does, wait it out. You didn't become obese overnight, you're not going to get skinny overnight. You're in this for life, love, so you might as well relax, step off the scale for a bit, and try to work on learning new habits that will help you reach your goals while the surgery is still fresh.

As far as pants sizes go, I started off at a 22. It took me about a month to get into a 20. And then two weeks to get into an 18. And now, 16s fit snugly, but it's coming off more quickly.

To use my old paper towel example...(actually, I think it's Jan's example)
Picture a full roll of paper towels. Big and plump. Take off 20 sheets. The roll still looks pretty much the same, right?
But if you start with a half-full roll and take off 20 sheets, it's going to look much smaller, much faster.

The smaller you get, the more quickly you're going to shift through sizes. But in the beginning, it will take a lot longer.

Keep on keeping on. You're doing fine. But you're going to make yourself nuts if you keep watching the scale so closely.

Thank you, Charlie C.

I concur...for the record, I've not stepped back on the scale since TUE at my first week post-op appt.

I just thought I'd try on some of my trousers...

Nonetheless, I am changing my eating habits and more importantly, I think, how I view food and my relationship to it and its relationship to me...eating to live rather than living to eat....

Not sure quite what you expected at 1 week and 1 day, but would encourage you to possibly adjust your thinking with regard to realistic expectations.

I know I also expected much more to be happening quicker than it did, but the truth of the matter is that it will take some additional time before you actually begin to see noticeable results.  I was probably three months out before my clothing size really began to change.

Be patient as the weight loss will come.  Follow your plan and begin to enjoy the journey day by day because it's going to take you to magnificent places.

Welcome to the loser's bench!!!
