Taste buds

I'm sitting here drinking my sugar free hot cocoa & all I can taste is saltiness. I can taste the sodium in everything now & its not very appetizing to say the least. I haven't really had anything with much sugar, because 1. I don't need it. 2. I don't crave it (thank the Lord, I was big on sweets before surgery) & 3. I'm afraid to re-introduce that back into my diet as it did not do well for me in the past.

Anyone else tasting things in their food/drinks?
It's just so weird that you can pick these things out now that you wouldn't of even noticed before.

My tastes have SUPER changed since surgery and I'm the opposite, everything is super sweet and I can't get enough salty stuff.

Yes I do it all the time. I also sense weird smells that are not there. Seeing cigarette smoke on TV sometimes makes me feel link I am actually smelling it.

But, yes, I can pick out certain tastes/spices in food more so now than ever before. I made wheat pasta with homemade sauce and turkey/italian sausages last night for the wife and a friend. It was YUM, but when I was cooking the sauce, I could taste every spice that I was adding to the tomatoes.

Both good and bad.

Good luck on your journey!

I had been putting my Miralax in my sf hot cocoa & thought that was what was causing the sodium taste, but apparently not. Lol
Guess I can start putting it back in there again. If its gonna taste like that with our without the taste, I may as well get my Miralax in.

Yes, I notice the same at 7 wks out.  Right after surgery the spouse had to buy five different types of bottled water before finding one that didn't taste salty to me.

i think for me it was in part that my body got used to not having the processed stuff and so starting to have it again makes me not like it.
