Eating slower
The past few days I've eaten too fast & feel over full. I know I have to eat slower & its definitely something I started working on again starting last night. My husband said I was being too slow, but I had cooked a ham for dinner & ham isn't the softest food in the world & I wanted to make sure I chewed it well & take a break between each bite. How do you eat slow? What are some tips that you can share with us newbies to help us with eating slow?
Throwing it back up if I didn't was my motivator. I can't eat ham anymore no matter how much I chew it my pouch says NO!
I trained myself to take a bite put my utensil down count to 50 then another bite. My family has a lot of patience with me when we eat out now...lol..
I did have troubles drinking slower and not gulping in the beginning. I didn't practice as well and it seemed like in the beginning it took me all day to get my fluid in. They said not to use straws but it helped me not gulp it might sound weird but it worked for me.
Eventually eating and drinking slower becomes habit I sometimes have trouble at work because my breaks are short and its hard to eat slow but thankgoodness for yogurt and shakes.

I chew until the food is pureed in my mouth, but not to tasteless mush. For me, that was the equivilant of saying the alphabet for every bite. I put down my fork and knife between each bite.
I have the baby forks and spoons, and when my family says anything about me eating slow, I pull them out and we ALL eat with them. I don't get a lot of feedback any more about how long it takes me to eat.

I currently do use the baby spoon, didn't buy the forks tho. I do measure my food, just sometimes I guess I test to see if I can eat alittle more. Which apparently if I'm satisfied after eating what I've measured I shouldn't push the envelope. Its something that takes re-training my mind for, that's for sure. Got the no drinking while eating down, thought I would have the hardest time with that, but it actually wasn't that hard. Remembering to eat slow in this fast past life we live is another situation. I will get it, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Thanks for all your suggestions.

I use a GYMBOSS(.com) which i have set to 5 min intervals.
Its smaller than some regular pagers and i just clip it to me.
Every 5 min (or whatever interval you want) it vibrates (you can set it to vibrate or beep) and i know to either take a bit or take a sip depending what i am on at the moment.
They aren't that expensive and you can get them online.
