I am on day 4 of my 2 week pre op liquid diet. I have 2.6lbs the first day, 2 lbs the second and 3 pounds yesterday. I am sooo tired. I go for my pre-op/anestesiologist appointment today.  I need some energy! Any suggestions?

Drinking about 1 1/2-2 protein shakes a day, SF popsicles, SF pudding, SF jello. No I have a family i have to cook for, so I smell the food!  I just worry because how fast weight is coming off and how I have no energy. I feel exhausted.

Hi Cathy, I am so dreading what you are going thru... I am in the 6 mos ins approval stage and hope to have my surg in Sept. My surgeon will also require the 2 week liquid diet pre-op and I don't know how I will do it ! Please keep sharing all your tips for this 2 week journey and GOOD LUCK !!

Hey. Can you "fast track" it to 90 days? My ins required the same thing, but I could do the faster version if I met w/ an excersize physiologist along w/ the dietician in a 90 day time frame. The exersize dude is paid out of pocket, 70$ per hr session, but well worth it to have the time cut down. Have you done your psych consult yet? Or how far along down your to do list are you?

It is not required from my surgeon to go on a pre-op liquid diet, but I am doing one starting today! It is only 7:00 in the morning so, we will see how this goes. Good lcuk with everything and I am here for support! My surgery date is April 30th, so only a little over a week to go :)

Im surprised at how little protein you are taking in! And im no expert so please follow your doc's orders but mine had me taking in about 4 shakes a day and anything liquid that had no fat or sugar, sugar free jello, fat free broth (beef or chicken broth) which all came to about 600 to 700 calories a day. Becauseof the amount of protein i was getting, i wasnt really fatigued.

I also had a 2 week pre-op all liquid diet except I was required to drink 5 protein shakes a day plus all the other clear liquids.  My shakes were very specific for this reason.  They were called the HMR 800 Healthy solutions for weight loss.  They were low in fat, high in protein, calcium and healthy amount of carbs, sodium and potassium with vitamins and minerals.  I absolutely hated being on the liquids but I did have plenty of energy.  What types of protein shakes did they give you, I'm wondering if it's enough carbs?  Karianne

At my pre op appointment today they told me to increase my shakes and to add beneprotein to my jello/broth/pudding.  AND I am down 40 pounds since January!!!  I was so excited!! Also, he took me off my diabetic medicine because my sugar is running so low on this liquid diet!!  Its been a great day! I am using Unjury protein shakes.
