i would like to give one other view of why people (INCLUDING ME) don't always follow the advice their doctor gives for how to eat..

for me, and possibly some others, it's just not that easy to do - i have found that i tend to eat for reasons other than physical hunger. this has been extremely difficult to change, and i'm seeking outside help for the issue.

i say this, and put myself up for embarrassment lol, because there are probably others out there who do the same things i do - and for similar reasons - and have a very hard time "just following the rules" so to speak..

it's not about willpower - i have none when it comes to this, apparently. at any rate, just wanted to throw that out there!
ditto for me too and I am 3.5 years out.....My weight loss have always been consistent and slow.  I loss that way even prior to RNY with the exception that two weeks post-op I had a 22 pound loss and have never had that large loss again.  But I have reached goal.

I have always had a food addiction and not just to junk food.  I just love to eat good food and the sight of it just like some people lovea good cigar, or can't stop smoking, or love a good drink.  Those things I do not do because it not interesting to me.  But food is.

I am a foodie and post-op, i still am.  recently after a weight gain, I knew that my eating habits were out of control and realized I was lapsing back into an episode of anxiety and depression and started back grazing all day and the scaleand mirror showed it.  I started on a new anti-depressant and I have now no appetite to eat or graze and once again I have a clear head to make good choices, follow my supplement routine and the weight is again peeling off as usual, slow and consistent.  So I know my tool still works

I know my WLS worked.  I am 4 weeks post-op and I can only eat 2-4 ounces of food at one time.  I can drink 4-5 ounces of liquid at a time (not with food).  If I try to eat one extra bite, it hurts going down.  I didn't have any problems with food coming back up until this week.  I tried a few different foods and had problems twice.  I found that I do have a grouchy pouch after all.

There is no way I could eat 1/2 cup of anything.  I'm only eating 2-3 ounces of food a couple times a day and drinking as much liquids as I can.
