Had a Tough Day

Boy, sometimes it doesn't pay to get out of bed. I have been struggling with swallowing problems, even after 4 EGDs to enlarge the opening, and I have been resisting getting another one. Today I gave up.
I tried to eat a meatball for lunch and honestly, I chewed and chewed and chewed before swallowing a minute amount. To no avail. It hung in my chest and stayed there, putting heavy pressure on my chest that was unrelieved by throwing up. But I went to my massage appointment anyway. Bad idea.
In the middle of the massage I had to throw up some more, so I cut the massage short and continued throwing up for about another half an hour. Finally the pressure was relieved and I stopped upchucking.
I immediately called and made an appointment with the endocrinologist for Wednesday morning and another dilation. Sigh.
In the meantime it's back to purees and I feel like this problem is NEVER going to be resolved. So discouraged.

Thus far, I havent had that problem. However many people post on this board who have. I trust that eventually the problem WILL BE resolved. I've heard many people say that it took multiple dialations before they were relieved. I didnt realize an endocrinologist did dialations. Is there something hormonal going on?

I'd invest in some papaya enzymes. When I had food stuck i'd eat like four of them and would feel much better in about ten to fifteen minutes afterwards. They won't prevent you from needing a dilation but it can make your life much more pleasant until you are able to get the dilation done.

I hope this helps you. It did help me, actually kinda saved me from going nutso. For a while there it seemed that everything I ate wanted to hang out in my throat. My surgeon said it was all in my head because there was nothing wrong with my throat/esophagus.

Did you have to end up getting a dilation to solve the problem?
