Is this an NSV or am I already doing something wrong?

So I'm in the middle of my third week post-op.

I'm measuring out the portions, sticking to the menu guidelines (okay...I'll take an extra bite of the cottage cheese or the refried beans if I'm really hungry as I prepare the meal...that's my confession).

I'll eat only what I've put on my plate, try hard to wait several minutes in between bites, but not always successful...that being said, I do not go back for seconds and when I'm finished, I simply wait for the realization that I'm no longer hungry...it comes sooner more often than it does later...

In re: fluids, while I'm not inclined to guzzle, I can take regular swallows rather than small sips...32 oz of water with some Crystal Light takes me about 1 to 1.5 hours to put away...having suffered the uncomfortable consequences of testing my limits (not intentionally) I feel as though I'm only doing what I know my pouch can tolerate...I also know that everyone progresses at different rates...is it possible that mine is just progressing a little faster than what might be considered normal?

Thanks in advance for the feedback...whether it is encouragement or warning....

Hey there I think I am similar to you in many ways.  I have to measure my food because I don't really have a full signal right now.  I can drink pretty normal too, no chugging but I can drink 20oz during my 1 hr exercise class without an issue.  I do get hungry and since I don't really "feel" full I have to rely on measuring and not going back for seconds.  I am so used to not drinking with my meals (after living with the lap-band for 8 yrs) so that rule is easy for me.  I just really hope that I get the full sensation soon, with the lapband I could eat just a few bites and feel full up to my throat lol.  I want to feel the same with this and I hope with time I will.  I think you're doing great! Im only 10 days postop and although i dont guzzle either, i have no problem consuming clear liquids. It takes me longer than before surgery but i can drink way more and faster than i had envisioned. I think its because water can just slide right through the stoma. I imagened these tiny little sips that i would be forced to drink but in reality i can swallow a normal amount at a time. With protein shakes i dont have to sip but after two or three swallows i have to wait for more room in my pouch. I guess it drains slower because its thicker.

i had no trouble with drinking from day 1 unless i tried guzzling, which i would sometimes forget and try, especially when i was at work and only had a second to grab a drink, which was silly cause then i'd just have to run to the bathroom for it to come up! i don't even know wheni t started but i can guzzle now a good amount, probably about a cup, wait a few seconds, then some more. makes sense if my pouch is about a cup and it needs to drain before i can add more.

Non-Scale Victory!  Not about the numbers on the scale or what you have lost in pounds but all the other victories.  Like wearing smaller clothing, or maybe fitting on a ride at the amusement park or even sitting on an airplane and not using a seat belt extender.

Well, good for you. I had trouble with water at first. I could t drink. It felt like I was swallowing air and it would hurt. Now, finally, I don't have problems, but it took a while to adjust. As far as food, sounds like your doing good. I also measure and make sure that's all I eat. No problems there.
