pill form vitamins vs. chewable

Does anyone take pill form vitamins or do you still use the chewable form? I am able to take pills now and I know we have limited absorption so I'm not sure whether to go to pills or stick with my chewables? I am fine with the calcium chewables, but the iron and multi vitamin are kinda nasty as chewables. Anyone?

I'm 4 months out and still do the centrum silver chewable. The calcium chewables i have are AWFUL so I'm trying the horsepills starting today.

I take almost all my vitamins in pill form, with the exception of Calcet creamy bites on occasion. We absorb them just as well whether it's a pill or a chewable (says the ASMBS).

Costco sells a liquid vitamin that works well for me. The name of the product is Reviva. I have not had surgery yet (5/9) and I don't know if there are any problems with swallowing it, but a friend of mine who has, takes it and he has had no problem with it.

The only issue with Riviva might be cost. You'd need to take two tablespoons twice a day, and that means a bottle would only last 16 days. I don't know what a bottle costs, though, so maybe that wouldn't be a problem.

I use chewables only because I take six meds a day in pill form and just don't want to swallow another pill.

I am half the person I was in 2008.

I've been off metformin (Glucophage) and Tylenol since surgery April 6 because the pills are so big. I'm afraid they'll get stuck in Pouchette. If anyone is taking big pills soon postop, are they going through okay?

Tylenol pills aren't usually that big. What version of Tylenol do you use? I was able to swallow Tylenol pills the day after my surgery with no trouble.

When I think of big pills, I think of things like calcium tablets. Those might possibly get stuck in the early days post op. But they are made to dissolve in the stomach, so they wouldn't be stuck for long.

The metformin is nearly the size of my outer ring finger joint. I can cut the pill in half, but then it has ragged edges. Crushed metformin is intolerable.

The Tylenol isn't as big as I'd remembered: only the length of my pinkie joint, and not as thick.
I'll be brave and try them today.

The gigantic glucosamine tabs, though, are going to wait for a while. Yikes!

I just thought of another question. I was told to stop the antioxidants--Mega Red--before surgery, and forgot to ask if could take it after surgery. I don't know why it was stopped preop. Too oily? Coats the stomach and small intestines? I'd like to start it up again.

I don't know why they said to stop the antioxidants before surgery. I would think you'd be able to take it post op but why not call whomever said to stop taking it and ask if it's OK to start it again?
