All my life I dealt with comments from people. Family comments have always been painful.

The absolute worst were animal sounds grown men have made to me when I walked down the street. (like dogs barking, or moo sounds, etc.)

Actually I was walking out to get the mail the other day and a car drove by and a guy yelled out " Hey you are fat!". I just ignored the stupid !@$ because I am 7 weeks out and have lost 60lbs already! I just thought to myself, " Not for long!"

My high weight was 274.. I was always pretty self concious about how much room I took up when I was out and about. I was acutely aware of people looking at me if I walked into a resturaunt ect... ButI never heard anyone say anything specifically to me until this past summer..
I had my surgery all planned soas a last hoorah I decided to take a trip to Yosemite with our trailer. I took my youngest daughter and her best friend along as well. One day while lounging in the sun next to the Merced River a little girl, maybe six years old, walked up to me said hi gave me her name and then told me I was "The biggest Mama she had ever seen"... Her mothers mouth dropped to her chest, her fathers head about spun off of his neck , they were obviously soooo embarrased! All I could do was cry! I know, she was six... I probably was the biggest Mama she had ever seen! But DAMN that stung. I think that was the day I stopped second guessing having the surgery. I never wanted to be a side show again, if I could help it

Yea ... by a coworker...
But I was accused of making fun of a MO person... cursed and yelled at...
Sometimes when 2 people talk or whisper to each other when a MO person is around - it is not about them... just saying...

your lucky i've been made fun of most of my life for being fat, when i was in school the kids would act like there was an earthquake going on when i walked by,  they called me sumo (short for sumo wrestler) the called me shamu (which is a whale) school was so miserable for me that i quit.  and yeah people mostly men say nasty things to me still, could be because i live in florida and people are not particularly friendly here.

When I was a child and a teen I was never made fun of.  Maybe once or twice by my siblings, but nothing serious.  It wasn't til I was an adult that I started getting made fun of.

I can think of one night in particular that still stings.  I went out to a restaurant with some friends.  I had ridden on my friend "Melissa's" motorbike the day before.  One of the other girls, "Vera" made a comment about it.  "I can't believe Solio could even fit on the motorbike!  And then they had to drive uphill!  That poor motorbike!"  I was in shock.  I couldn't believe she would say something like that.  I didn't want to make a scene, but I was deeply hurt and left early.

By the time I got home, they had chained up the main gate for the apartment building I live in, so I had to squeeze through the gates. I was too big to go through comfortably, but oh well , I had to get through.   As I pushed myself through, a button on my coat got caught on the gate and popped off.  It was too much.  I just started crying and ran to my apartment to hide.

I think I noticed it more when I became an adult being as my highest weight was above 435 lbs.  Kids are mean but adults can be HORRIBLE.  I've come home crying so many times from shopping it's not even funny. I even get made fun of now but its for being too underweight yet still having a large "stomach" which is actually skin.

When I was a teenager, as I was walking along the street, a car passed me and a man yelled out something like "Go back to the sea you big fat whale"

I also once went on a blind date. I might have under-exaggerated my weight.... approximate the same that the guy did I believe. He took one look at me and said "I don't date fat chicks" and that was the end of teh blind date. My hind-sight comment should have been "And I don't date short bald dumpy men who misrepresent themselves" but I said nothing.

Once I was slender, I realized that ONE coworker treated me exceptionally different as a slender person compared to as a fat person... she belittled all of my opinions when I was fat, but sought out my opinions when I was slender (!) .... I was sad for her that her prejudism was so pervasive in her life.

For the most part I was never someone who worried what others thought about me. It never occurred to me that anyone would note what I was eating, or purchasing in a supermarket or anything else to do with my weight. I never had the slightest time in my own life to note what others were eating or buying, so I never expected that anyone else, particularly strangers, would have the slightest concern over my actions.

My highest weight as an adult was 311. I was never made fun of as an adult... At least not to my face. I took enough jabs about my weight along the way in life though. I have struggled with my weight my whole life and the comments and looks only made me want to turn to food more. As I got older I decided to act confidant even if I really didn't feel that way, so that people would see my personality over my fat.  I don't know if it worked lol, but I never heard comments after that.

Yes since I was a child, the worst ones are when total strangers make comments, not to
your face, but just loud enough you can hear them. These comments always
blindside me because you don't know  these people, you've never done anything to
these people, but they have to bring you down for no reason at all. Just nasty
people. I usually just ignore it an keep walking, but the worst incident I ever had was
when me and my family were at a restaurant for breakfast and after the meal I went
to the bathroom, when I came out of the bathroom my 8 yr old son was crying, I
was really surprised because he wasn't a cryer so I thought he was hurt, but it
turned out some woman in the restaurant had made a nasty comment just loud
enough that my son heard it. Let me tell you I have never been so pissed in my life,
I asked my son if he wanted me to say something to the woman and he did, so he and
I marched back into the restaurant, he pointed at the woman and I asked her loud
enough that everyone in the restaurant could hear, if it made her feel good to make
a young boy cry and added a few more choice words. I couldn't believe her, I mean I've
had comments directed at me all my life, but to be such a nasty hag to make a
comment to child about his mom! Ridiculous.
Thanks
