Dilation is a procedure that they have to do to enlarge the stoma opening because of a stricture.

Strictures are a not uncommon complication of RNY where the stoma's opening is too narrowing. Typical symptoms of a stricture are vomiting and pain, inability to tolerate solid foods or even in some cases liquids.

Important to know the signs of a stricture and even more important to be in contact with your surgeon, they need to be treated ASAP.
