It's Saturday - and I need a muzzle!

Saturdays have become the bane of my existence! It seems like everytime I turn around I am eating something, and Spring /Summer are the worst!
Example.... wandering around the yard, noticed my peaches were starting to dry up on the tree. They aren't quite ready, so I didn't know why it was happening, were they already over ripe and I missed it?  So I ate one.
Went to my parent's house and they were having breakfast for supper.  I love those smoked pork sausage links. I used to eat several of them. Today I intentionally picked one up off the plate and ate it.
Now I am not too bad about stressing over  "good" foods and "bad" foods... But I do stress over boredom eating, especially when I am busy!

All day long I have been craving (my mind screaming NEEDING) a SF Ice Cream. I convinced myself to wait until tonight, but I have grazed and munched enough that the Ice Cream has to be cancelled for today.  Maybe that negative reinforcement will help before the negative reinforcement hits during maintenance.

Sheesh

WOW, I know what you mean. I have not had my WLS yet so what I do is keep a straw handy for me to chew on. It is a chewing thing for me. When I'm busy working on my hobbies (sewing) or when I am out in the yard working I have one in my mouth so I won't be tempted to put something in to eat. I'm also using a watch to ring when it is time to eat something. I'm following some pre-op doctor's orders. I don't have anything else or any other words of wisdom.

Is it possible to kind of make Saturdays your "treat day?"  Like, maybe allow for extra calories on Saturday by eating a few less calories the rest of the week?  Or just stock your kitchen with healthy stuff to munch on?  I know it doesn't always work, but I'm all for working with my natural inclinations when I can.  I'm a night eater.  So I eat less during the day and plan more snacks in the evening.

That is a good idea... I am just so afraid at this point still (8.5 months out). I guess at some point I have to start trusting myself?
And there are worse things than a golfball sized peach, just have to make better choices than greasy pork sausage!! (it didn't sit well, so that will help!)

There is lots worse in this world than a peach or a sausage.  Don't know about you but although I have been really good at following the program while I was in the losing phase, I didn't do this to be on a diet forever.  So at some point, moderation has to come into play.  There has to be a way to eat that includes good food and feels right too.  I'm not taking junk, but real food.  Choices will be personal but I know I would be really grumpy if I thought I could never have another brownie or piece of chocolate.  So occasionally, very occasionally, I do and make adjustments elsewhere.  I get in my protein, fluids and non-starchy veggies and occasionally will have a small something else.  That's life.

Yeah I am trying to ease myself into the "this is a lifestyle not a diet" mindset. I do allow myself treats in moderation (in fact, if my calories allow, I have a SF ice cream several days a week).  Just Saturdays seem to be all about food.  And it isn't even always boredom, the last several weeks I have been running myself ragged everyday even weekends. I think it is some sort of weird Saturday eating habit from pre-op or something.
I'll talk to my counselor, and I have an appointment with my dietitian next week (I go every 3mths even though they don't require it). In the meantime I will make adjustments in exercise and on my meals for other days.
