I have one wee****il my preop liquid diet. I have tried the unjury protein, hated the vanilla. Still need to try the chocolate. Tried the premiere chocolate and vanilla---"shivers" YUCK! Today I went to GNC and they had some new brand called lean something of which the vanilla was shivers, the chocolate and strawberry soso.

i bought a bottle of the punch flavor isopure to try, a protein bar by EAS?? and a chocolate packet by this lean ........ I have been looking for the biotin and B12 SL. I am just starting to feel overwhelmed. Is this normal??

You may want to just get a bunch of samples..........  What taste good or bad now might be different after surgery.  Your taste bud changes.  For example, could not stomach unjury chicken soup, about 6 weeks out, could only stomach unjury chicken soup, 7 months out ,,,,,,,,,, you can't pay me to touch it.  If there is a trader joes in your next of the woods........they have B12 sup. cheap.  Biotin you can buy anywhere...........you can hold off on biotin ............it is not a manatory supplement.  You will have enought work getting what you need down you.  Biotin will not stop your hair from falling out.  It may or may not help in regrowth.

All very normal. You will find that certain tastes will change a few times before and after surgery so don't overstock on protein powders. After 23 years in the Navy, I seem to be able to "stomach" alsmot all of the proteinchoices, so I stick to the cheapest (most protein for the buck) varieties on sale.

Good luck!

I hope feeling overwhelmed is normal, cause I'm right there with ya.I hope to have my RNY in June.I am overwhelmed because of the endless pre op doctor visits.....psychologist,sleep study, cardiologist, endoscopy and pulmonary doctor. My lord....so the sleep study showed sleep apnea.....so now I have the CPAP...and HATE it.The cardiologist wants to do a stress test...that is this coming week and I'm freaked out about that....i feel grumpy.I love the Slim Fast protein shakes (low carb ones) and I like the Pure Protein ones.Good luck!!!

Slimmer, I can say relax! Relax with the sleep apnea and just go with it. I was diagnosed about 5 years ago and know from my medical background that this is lfe saving, so do not fight it. Accept it. If the mask is annoying, try a different one. It really does make a difference. I had my stress yesterday, was quite nervous but came through it fine. Don't have to have an endoscoy, but an UGI.Keep your focus on the end result..........THAT WILL GET US ALL THROUGH! Feel free to Pm me if you want extra support.

For what it's worth, I concur...

I've slept with a CPAP for almost ten years...I can't imagine trying to sleep without it...it took me about one night to get accustomed to it because it finally allowed me to truly sleep!!

 it's totally normal.

i still hate all the protein powders by themselves i need to add SOMETHING to it. the vanilla i usually do an iced coffee type thing (which you won't be able to do right off the bat) or make it hot and add some sf white chocolate syrup and it tastes like white hot chocolate. the chocolate i can choke down if necessary, or i make it hot and add hot chocolate mix (not always sf or diet, but if i get it down i don't complain, i'm not getting enough calories these days anyway)

Syntrax Matrix protein drinks are excellent as far as I am concerned.  Melting Mama recommended one that is Mint Chocolate Cookie that is absolutely yum!  I bought their Banana Creme, Strawberry,
Orange Creme and Vanilla.  I cannot believe the difference in protein shakes.  Buy samples if you can, because so many cannot tolerate after surgery.  My husband loves them, and when my son comes over with his girlfriend they whip smoothies with the protein, half container of unflavored yogurt, ice and a splash of fat free milk and fruit.  They are out of this world!
