OK, I can't lie. I am definitely nervous about surgery in the morning! Don't get me wrong, I am excited about my new take on life, but nervous about the surgery itself! I will be fine once I wake up in recovery. Right!?!?!  My bag is packed. Robe, slippers, granny panties, cell charger, cell phone, chapstick, deoderant, toothpaste, toothbrush. Am i forgetting anything? Well, wish me luck! As of tomorrow morning I will be on the losers bench!!!

Good luck to all the other 4/30 WLS guys and gals tomorrow!! We can do this!

Cathy - it's perfectly normal to be nervous.  If you weren't, I'd wonder.

The cell phone and charger - do you really need them?  Will there be a phone in your room?  Taking them is just one more thing to worry about.  If you can get buy the one day without them, you'll be better off.

Honestly, I too took a robe and never bothered to put it on.  When walking, it was easier for me to put another hospital gown on backwards.  That way I didn't have to worry about taking the IV bag through the sleeve of the robe.

Just curious about the granny panties.  Something wrong with your normal ones?

Just think - tomorrow afternoon you'll be on the loosers bench.

Walk, walk, walk and sip, sip sip.

The cell phone is important. My daughter has to work (new job) and has 3 college finals and can't be with me for my surgery. Her boss (she is a security guard) told her she could text as long as nobody can see her doing it. She's my only child and this will be my only connection to her.
I guess I didn't think about having to thread the IV through the robe AND the granny panties, well they are what I wear! LOL They fit loosely now though that I have lost 55lbs pre-op! They just told me to make sure all my clothing is loose fitting for the trip home.
I can't wait for the losers bench!  I got ya! sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk!

Thanks for being so positive!!  I will try to get my hubby to update when he gets home tomorrow. I think he is as nervous as me, if not more so!  Thanks for the prayers!

Well, you may not feel great when you wake up in recovery, but you'll be all right, yes.  And you may not feel too bad.  Some people have more pain than others.  Make sure to let the nurses know right away if you are in pain or nauseous.

Sounds like you've got everything. You really don't need much, you'll be sleeping a lot and you'll be kind of fuzzy from the pain meds, most likely.

Good luck

I will make sure to tell them if I feel nauseated or have pain! My surgeon tells me the 55lbs I have lost will help alot with recovery. I sure hope so!

Good luck tomorrow!!  Take your own pillow and shoes or slippers that you can slip your feet into.  You won't be able to bend over at all.
