TOTALLY OT: Pets
I have Lola, my little pug who's almost three. Like all pugs I've ever met, she's a clown. She loves people and is convinced everyone loves her. She sheds a lot, so my house is always covered with a fine litter of dog hair.
I have to take her to the vet to have her toenails clipped because it's a two-person operation. She wiggles and wriggles so much I can't hold her and clip at the same time.
Then I have Roger cat, whom I adopted from the Humane Society about five years ago. He's part Norweigian Forest Cat. He weighs in at 17 pounds in the winter and trims down to 15 in the summer. He has medium long, thick gray hair and light green eyes.
He's a lover. He likes nothing better than to drape himself over my shoulder.

The first dog we got when I was a kid (7) was a Pug named *****hin and he was a wonderful dog (except for the shedding...ugh!). My brothers were 4 and 1 when we got him and he was wonderfully tolerant of little boys antics. When we got other dogs that were considerably bigger than *****a husky and several Chows) and dogs that were more macho than he was (a couple of Scotties), he was still the alpha male and he managed to establish that without even a single fight with any of the other dogs.
His favorite activity (other than eating, of course) was sunggling/napping with me. As soon as I got a blanket out to use on the couch or the family room floor while watching tv, he would be on the blanket before I could even get settled under it!

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Don't know if the pics worked, we have a English Bulldog/Bassett Hound mix. He's got a spot around one eye and one deformed paw, so he looks like a pirate and sounds like he has a peg leg. He's our 80lb lapdog.
Before I got married I rescued a Torti cat off a farm. He was pissed about the husband, then the child, and now especially the dog, but still loves me.

I wish I could have a horse! I plan to take my daughter to the stables just off post this summer, they offer riding lessons for 3 years and up. I think they put them on the mini's and they lead them around with a rope at this age, but it's a start :)
I have an older dog I adopted from a rescue shelter when I was 19 she's a lab mix. She's now 14 years old, and lives with my dad. Unfortunately when my daughter was born in 2008 I could tell she had no interest in having a little one around. At age 9 I noticed she would bump into things, if we were walking it was like she didn't anything to the side. She was diagnosed with cateracts. She can see, but not as clear as she did when she was young. Poor eyesight mixed with having a new child was just not a good combo, I worried she would become a fear biter if my daughter startled her. Otherwise she's healthy, and active and even though it hurt to see her go at least I know she's in good hands with my dad.
Later that year we searched breeds to see what dogs are rated good for small children. Pugs and Beagles were both recommended for being sturdy and patient dogs. We then came across a Puggle Puppy, a combination between the two. I'm glad we took our chances with him, he's awesome and since he has been raised with her we've never had any problems. I'm actually amazed by how patient he is, he loves to cuddle. My daughter is his kid for sure, he follows her everywhere lol
Then This year in February we adopted our 2nd Puggle from an animal control shelter. He was due to be euthanized due to over crowding at the shelter. We adopted him 2 days before he was to be euthanized. He's such a great boy as well. 5 years old, smart as a whip. I can't believe his previous owners obviously put in all kinds of time to train him and then just surrendered him to animal control. He does have a big beagle bark, so maybe that is why they chose not to keep him. We own our home so it really isnt an issue, and honestly I feel safe with him here because for a 26 pound dog he has a BIG bark lol.
Pictured "Chewy" 5 yrs and "MooMoo" (because he's colored like a cow lol) 3yrs old.

It sounds like you did absolutely the best thing for your baby AND for your sweet dog! I had a dog go blind when she was 6yrs old and she lived to 12 (heart issues).... she still chased horses all those years lol.
Puggles are awesome!! I "babysat" my friends choclate brindle puggle, she was the sweetest!
I think I love Moo Moo!!!

Thank you :) I still get plenty of updates on my older dog as well. Her name is Rose.
MooMoo is a bit overweight lol he was the largest of the litter when he was born, and even being on a diet and getting plenty of exercise he's only lost a pound. Most of his is in his chest which is the pug in him. He's what they call a 2nd generation puggle (both parents were puggles) so they do tend to be a little bigger. I love the puggle breed as well, they love to play but also love to just cuddle. They both love my daughter too.
