Boca Burgers (Vegan variety)...not liking them very much...actually, not at all...
...but not because it's the Vegan variety....
So, at my 1-month post-op appt on TUE, I was told to begin to incorporate more "real" food into my diet...I was provided with a list of foods that I could (read as should) begin eating...several types of fruit (provided that the skin was thinner than that of an apple)...pork, chicken breast, fish...turkey jerky (which isn't bad--either that or I'm subconsciously liking whatever I'm allowed to eat--I probably wouldn't have touched it pre-surgery), veggie burgers (obviously, the brand I've chosen is Boca)...
Here's the deal...it seems to matter not how long I chew or how liquefied it becomes before I swallow, it just doesn't go down well...it seems to hang there for a while before it gets into the pouch...this happens with nothing else...water, shakes, cheese sticks, protein bars, shredded turkey...everything else goes through, no problem...
I'm certain this is not atypical by any means, but could some veterans provide some validation, that the same thing has happened to them (but perhaps with a different food or type of food)?...are there some foods that you find you just can't eat for whatever reason (and not because it has a negative association)?
A co-worker suggested I try the brand that she eats with is SOL Cuisine...I am going to give it a try...

I've said it that many times, huh?
Inexplicably, McDonald's burgers do nothing to me. I wish I did not know that. But thankfully through this moving process I have learned that I eat real food because I actually like it better than fast food. Yesterday I cooked THE most elementary spaghetti sauce known to man (basically just ground meat, some Italian sausage and a jar of sauce). It was pur heaven.

I wasn't mad at you! I was just wondering if you all might be sick of hearing me say it over and over...
Thank you for lifting up that example. It's very true. MOST ground meats that are held together make me feel nasty-full or down right sick.

I'm 30 months post op. What you described above was my experience to a "T." I now eat very, very little meat. Even at 30 months, it does not sit well at all. I therefore eat a lot of beans, yogurt, nuts, shakes, cheese, etc. My protein intake probably ranges 64 grams more or less on a give day. Some days a lot more. Beef upsets my stomach, so I don't eat it anymore. I buy ground pork and turkey at Whole Foods and use those to make meatloaf. That works well. If you make soup or beans and cut the meat extremely small and put the pieces in while the beans are cooking, it practically disappeared. That was how I was able to consume small amounts of meat. Fish had to be very moist, and I began eating shrimp around 2 years out...maybe a little sooner.
i eat the boca vegan burgers, but i need to dip them in something, otherwise they are too dry.
but yes, some people's pouches just don't like certain things.
