I've tried Flexeril and Tramadol and neither did a thing.
As far as sciatica, I had it terrible with my pregnancies and tried everything and what finally helped was accupuncture.  With my last pregnancie I went in as soon as it started and while they were putting the needles in I felt something like an electrical shock and I never had the pain again.  I tried accupuncture this time for my headaches and it didn't do a thing :(

I take Gabapentin for leg aches.  I have restless leg syndrome and we still have yet to rule out fibromyalgia.  It does help tremendously, but I haven't noticed weight gain with it.

hope you are feeling better soon!!!

Thanks for your help everyone.  I know that when I took on drug several years ago the side effect was weight gain and after I started taking it I was ravenously hungry all the time and that was when I regained my weight after my first WLS but every time I tried to go off my depression would get much worse and I decided that I would rather be fat then suicidal.  After my revision I was able to go off that medication without a problem.

I have taken Neurontin and had wicked side effects and didn't do a lot for my neck pain.  Yep, I gained weight, but that was also pre-surgery.

Topomax is a hateful drug. I took it for headaches.   I felt stupid all the time and didn't lose any weight.  I also actually did the clinical trial that tested Topomax with Phentermine for weight loss.  During the trial, I had a really hard time with tingling feet.

Verapamil was the best thing for my headaches.  It is a calcium channel blocker for blood pressure, but did a good job on helping the headaches.

I took it, but so briefly I don't know if I can really share much.... I was prescribed it right after I fell and re-broke my tailbone a few months before they decided to remove it, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how a medicine for neuralgia would have the slightest impact on a newly broken bone and the concomitant pain. My pain doc, when he saw me (his PA prescribed the gabapentin) agreed with me and got me a surgeon to remove my tailbone.

The elevil I'm taking now is pretty good, and has a similar impact. Do beware there's a new variety of gabapentin that is tons more expensive and is timed release.

I'm currently on this for neuropathy.  I gained 23 lbs the first 6 weeks I was on it, but went back to strict protein (protein shakes for B&L) and have dropped 18 of that in 2 and a half weeks.  I spoke to my PCP about this and she stated that weight gain is a rare side effect...so hopefully you'll do just fine!  :o)

The first few days I was quite sleepy but my pain is being managed VERY well and I can sleep all night...when before I was up every 2 hours or so.

Best of luck to you!!

Do you feel that the drug affected your appetite and made you very hungry?  I have heard some people say that it caused them to crave carbs.  I'm just worried that it will cause a weight gain even if I don't change the way I eat.  I could afford to gain some weight but I don't want to get too high and not be able to lose any because of it.
