Hypoglycemia Help
When your BG is so low that you are feeling "strange" the important thing is to get your BG up at least to 70 or whatever number your body needs ASAP. If that means eating something with a little sugar, then so be it. Better a short dumping episode than having your BG so low that you have a seizure, as I did about a month ago. Glucose tablets are designed to bring up low BG levels. You should carry them with you. Remember the brain needs glucose to function and if it isn't getting enough, you risk seizures and convulsions. My episode was really very scary.

I have only had a few episodes where my sugar crashed (mostly due to my choices) although a few times I couldn't determine why it happened. I 99% of the time have a pack of peanut butter crackers in my purse, desk at work and in my car. (An idea I got from vitalady to keep them from getting mashed, is an eyeglass holder - hard case). Three crackers is what I've found to level my sugar out fairly quickly.

This may work for your protein bars also in your purse, not sure I'd leave them in your vehicle.

Prepackaged PB crackers are a good thing to carry. Stay away from anything with sugar in it, you'll resolve the low blood sugar only to set yourself up for another crash. I ALWAYS have whole wheat pb crackers with me. A glass of milk helps too if you can get your hands on some. Protein bars don't usually help me when it's low enough to wake me up at 2am in a cold sweat, but they are okay for early lows.
