Depressed

I'm thinking I'm slightly depressed. Maybe its just the pains or the pain med's making me feel this way, I dunno. All I wanna do is sleep, which the pain med's have alot to do with that. Since my surgery Thursday, I have not wanted to eat & have ate next to nothing it seems. I know better & know I should be eating my protein to help with my healing & recovery. Didn't have a problem with foods after my RNY but since my hernia repairs I'm not liking anything, at all. I do get all my water in, but food wise not so much. I just think I'm depressed. Flo coming to town the day I was admitted into the hospital has not helped matters much either. I'm currently taking Celexa 40mg & really think its just everything that has happened with the surgery & my fall the other night. Might need a readjustment in anti-depressant med's. Somebody slap me silly with a Happy Stick or something, I hate feeling this way.

I wish I had a happy stick.

I bet it is the pain and the meds, at least in large part.  But if it doesn't get better in a few days, I would call your doc and talk about whether or not to adjust the meds.

Can you do something nice for yourself today?

If I don't take the pain med's I'm sure I could.

Hi there -- When I start feeling that way, I MAKE myself get up, take a shower, put on a little make-up, do my hair and put on something clean and pretty -- even if its just a nice nite gown or pajama set! I feel better instantly. Then, if I can't go anywhere, I get a chair and sit out in my back yard and soak up the sun. But, I live in Florida and it looks like you live in North Dakota? I don't know what the temps are there this time of year but is it sunny at all?

No slapping allowed! Give yourself a break, there's a lot going on with your body right now... it's getting it from all angles so you are allowed to feel not quite on top of things! Keep an eye on how you are feeling and TRY to do something nice for yourself, even if it's just fresh pjs, but please also try to be gentle with yourself. If it lasts for more than a couple weeks, be sure to visit the doctor. Good luck and hang in there! You can get through this!!!
