embarrassing questions

Let's see...embarassing questions.... I gotta think about this one.
Okay, here's one.
After my period, I am incredibly susciptible to vaginosis. I seem to get a flare-up every other month or so, always the week after my period. I always assumed it was from using tampons and the weird imbalance going on down there during TOM.
I am adamently against wearing pads, so other than my usual increase in hygiene maintenance (which i**** or miss in regards to effectiveness), is there anything any of you know of to help keep that at bay? Will doctors provide an Rx for preventive antibiotics?

Have you tried eating TONS of yogurt around that time of the month? It might keep the bacteria balanced down there.

I don't really know if tampons would affect it or not. It wasn't one of the factors the CDC listed as things that increased your risk - they listed douching and having multiple sex partners.

I guess I should start turning the men away. They've been lining up and knocking down my door. I barely have time to pencil them all in. ;)

I guess if you wanted to know if it was the tampons, you could try using pads one month and see if it happens then. But I'm not sure it matters if it is the tampons or not if you really don't wanna use pads. You just need to figure out how to make it go away.
Not that this is relevant at all, but in the spirit of sharing more than anyone really wants to know, I've been using cloth pads lately. I love them. They are so much more comfortable than the disposable ones.

Cloth pads, eh? That sounds interesting. I may give pads a try one month and just see what happens. Because I'm not particularly sexually active at the moment, my gyno thinks tampons might be causing microtears, which are allowing my flora to multiply too much in a bad way. Pads would certainly alleviate that problem. It's worth an experiment.
