I'm trying sooo hard.... need advice and to kinda vent....
Ok.... I need some advice... I've been having a few issues since surgery....
First, since surgery and I dont know if this affects others or what, but my sense of smell has exploded, like I can smell things and most things make me wanna gag.
Because of that, I am having a VERY VERY hard time getting my protein shakes in. I take a few sips and my pouch just stirs and I wanna go worship the toilet. The smell of the whey makes me sick. I feel like I have LPS (little pouch syndrome) because I sip and sip all day of water and I feel sooo full. I dont drink much crystal light or MiO in my water anymore because things are just too sticky sweet to me, so they have to be super watered down. I feel like I'm constantly full. I have no problems eating lunch and dinner.... breakfast is kinda hard because I can't eat first thing in the morning. I am finding alot of things make me just want to hurl. (and no, I'm not pregnant) I've tried drinking warm diet hot chocolate in the morning and it helps.
I wound up in the ER a week ago yesterday with dehydration and very mild pancreatitis from being dehydrated. Docs said labs were fine except for me throwing keytones in my urine which meant I was dehydrated. I feel better since then.... but, trying to get the water and protein in is killing me.
I am yogureted, chickened, egged and tuna'd out... I dont advance to my new stage till the 24th. Need ideas on how to get past the whey smell or find a protein that doesn't stink too bad and ideas for new recipes.
I'm a month out tomorrow and any advice or kick in the butt would be greatly apprecaited.

I had the same issue with smell and taste. At ten weeks out everything started calming down. I can finally drink one protein a day without getting sick. I get the rest of my protein in with food. Most smells no longer bother me. I no longer sip drinks but can take a normal drink which helps get more liquids in my diet. Hopefully, you will find things easier in a few weeks.

I am half the person I was in 2008.
I was just like you early out. Someone on here suggested a sports bottle to drink your protein shakes from. That way the smell would be inside the bottle. I didn't read that until I was past that part, but I do think it would have helped some.
What kind of protein are you drinking? If you look at Nik's blog, bariatric foodie or the world according to egg face you can find all kinds of recipes to make the shakes easier to drink.
Unjury makes a chicken broth flavored protein that many people really like. Maybe that would be good since sweet things are a turn off right now.
Hang in there...this part of the journey is hard, but you can bet through it.

Put your protein drink in a cup with a lid, like a sports bottle so it's covered and you can't smell it. Also try something different. When I was having a hard time I tried ISOPURE fruity flavors and I would water them down. It was really thin so it went down easier. I also drank them with a straw. I know some doc's say no straws, but I never had any problems with it. Just check with your doc to see if you can try it. As for the water, I really like Vitamin water 0 because it was not as sweet. I also brew my own decaf ice tea and add a little sweetner and lemon and that goes down nice. Have you tried cottage cheese? Along with what you listed I lived off those foods for a month or more. Just remember,.......This too shall pass! You can do it.
Try protein powder in your hot chocolate.
Try drinking your protein shakes from a cup with a lid. Can't smell it so well that way.
Try a protein shake with soy isolate or egg white protein, if the smell of whey bothers you.

My sense of smell and taste have also exploded. I hate protein shakes, especially those that are thick and milky. I use unflavored whey protein isolate and mix it up with heated chicken broth or sugar free hot chocolate mix. You just need to be sure that the liquid is under 130 degrees F when you mix in the protein powder.
I used to drink Crystal LIght and other 5 calorie drink mixes all the time. Now I can't stand them! Right after surgery I added a slice of lemon or some lemon juice to make it more palatable; now I just love my plain water. Cold or room temperature, I don't care. I don't drink anything else except my protein drinks.
The only other protein drinks I can stomach right now are Unjury strawberry sorbet (you can mix it with water) and a ready-to-drink type called Designer Whey. Neither of them are sickeningly sweet to me.
I don't eat breakfast either. I just do not have an appetite in the morning and I want to make sure I get enough liquids and protein in during the day, so I drink my protein for breakfast and only eat 2X a day. My dietician was fine with this. You might want to try are fat-free refried beans with some low-fat cheddar cheese melted in. I get a little gassy from it, but nothing too horrible. I also puree fat-free cottage cheese, although I'm going to try it without pureeing it next time. This stage is tedious, but I'm slowly introducing more things into my diet -- I just loved the deli turkey I ate yesterday -- and I am trying to take it one day at a time.
Good luck!

try mixing your protein shake with ice. i did 1 cup of hood calorie countdown milk (now i use almond milk, unsweetened), 1 cup of ice, 1 scoop of protein powder and 1 tablespoon pudding mix (usually chocolate). whirl it all up and drink. yummy!
