I had the Mirena prior to surgery. It came out on it's own a few months post-op "due to drastic weight loss" so after a lot of debate/discussion I opted for the Nuva Ring. No issues with malabsorption because it goes into the blood stream and it has fewer side effects. My OB didn't want to do Implanon or Depo because of the risk of weight gain.
