Where can I improve?

For the gas, try getting lactase pills. You are lactose intolerant most likely. Lactase is the enzyme lactose intolerant people don't produce that breaks down the milk sugar. Lactase is what they add to Lactaid (so actually it is NOT lactose-free, but it adds the enzyme your body needs to break down the milk sugar). They sell it at most drug stores.

And if you use raw milk, it naturally contains lactase!  Pasteurizing milk destroys the lactase, though.

I can have yogurt & even half n half. But non fat, 1%, 2% or Vitamin D milk & i are no longer friends. LOL

I have always been anemic, even way before surgery. The B12 I was taking under my tongue and it just seems to not absorb all the way. I guess...

I will have to try moving more. Maybe bike rides with my daughter.  I am going to have to try to eat less carb & more protein.  I like nuts...  Are there any quick fix protein items you guys recommend? I tried Beef Jerky in the past. My jaw got tired from all the chewy chewing. LOL

Most of my go-to proteins you probably wouldn't like!

I like:

-Turkey pepperoni (17 slices = 70 calories = 11g protein)
-Tuna (4 oz. = 90 calories = 20g protein)
-Greek yogurt
-Cottage cheese (1/2 c. lowfat = 90 calories = 14g protein)
-low-sodium lunch meat
-string cheese (looks like you've got that covered)
-quinoa (which is a good replacement for rice in a lot of dishes and has more protein)

Those are just a few.

Lunch meat - I totally forgot about that. I use to eat it at the beginning. THANK YOU!  I think this will help!

Costco carries a brand called Premier Protein. They are a tad thick but I put a little water in to get it more to my liking. There may be some dairy content here - not sure. But since you can tolerate cheeses and cottage cheese, it's not lactose intolerance.

What do you all think of a protein bar for breakfast?  Is that not allowed? I have stayed away from shakes & bars for the past 4 years. I have heard of people becoming dependent on them...

I eat a protein bar for breakfast most days.  What do you mean by dependent on them?  Like addicted?  I don't think you are any more likely to become addicted to a protein bar than to any other food item.

Many bars are high in calories, carbs and sugar, so they aren't all good choices.  Something like a Quest bar would be a great choice.
