An unqualified NSV, today...
My workplace is large enough that in any given month there are several observances of birthdays and as part of any given birthday observance, there is the obligatory birthday cake(s).
Now, it's not quite like the place where Elaine worked and there was birthday cake served every single workday (those who are Seinfeld fans know that of which I speak...and again, there I am dating myself...) but it can seem that way some months...
ANYWAY, today there was such an observance with two (2) birthday cakes available from which the invited celebrants could choose (a chocolate one, and a lemon one)...as I was taking a late lunch of V-8 Organic Tomato and Basil soup, I was in the lunchroom when the party began and was offered some of the cake...it was easy to decline in front of all the attendees as I need to be held accountable...
BUT....later in the afternoon, I went to the lunchroom to get a cup of coffee and there on one of the tables, was maybe a quarter to a third of the lemon cake left over from the celebration...there was no one around...I was so tempted...I was...I was also....triumphant in that I was able to get my cup of coffee while entertaining the notion and acknowledging the temptation...but realizing that it was poor choices like that that helped get me to the point where WLS was necessary enabled me to leave that cake exactly where it was...
Did I want to be able to have it? Yes...no question...but I want to be healthier, in shape and more pleasing in appearance than I wanted to savor that cake for what...not even five minutes?
I am claiming a victory!!

Great job! It is very hard to hold yourself accountable when nobody is around & watching. I was good at sneaking things in when nobody was around. I've ate that way most of my life. Like I had to hide it from people. Glad you overcame that temptation, it would not of been worth that 5 mins of pleasure in your mouth.
How wonderful! It is so nice when you can walk away from something and say thin is going to feel so much better than that cake would ever taste!
