 My wife feels your pain.

My coverage out of pocket and stuff for surgery wasn't to bad but my lifestyle since surgery and complications has taken it's finacial toll, but thank god for my annual max because the unknown fees post-op could have been devastating.

Post op was

Ulcers
4 ER Visits
2 Hostpital stays 5 days and 3 days
Blood transfusion

Fitness Related
Ortho For Rotator Cuff
21 visits for Therapy
4 Knee Ortho visits
3.5 months of Therapy x2 a week
Running shoes 3 pairs
Bike (umm worth more than my car)
Gym membership (I'm one of the few that actually gets their money worth)
Protein Supplements
Race Fees
USAT Membership
Travel fees for Races
Race Photos

My time post op has actually cost me more than my surgery did and it is less than 2 years since surgery.

As far as the CPAP machine goes, try and ask if they will let you rent it.  I don't know about other health plans, but mine lets you purchase or rent a CPAP and if you only need it for a couple of months I would go the rental route which should save you some money.

VSG on 05/22/12 with
Can I switch expenses with you?   My VSG is costing me $12,000 since I am not fortunate enough to have insurance that pays for bariatric surgery.  It's a big expense but I need it to help with my rheumatoid arthritis.

Just remember that there is always someone out in the world that is worse off than you.   Count your blessings that you have this chance and you have the insurance to pay the big portion of the expense.

Good Luck with your surgery.
