More of a realization than an NSV...

Since my real journey began last July, I feel that I've been making real progress toward developing new, healthier and better eating habits to replace the old, harmful and bad ones...

The most noticeable ones (at least to me) are the following:

-if there's no food left on the plate, it's time to stop eating...

-if it's time to stop eating and there is still food on the plate, toss it...

-if something in your head tells you that you're full, it's because you are! STOP EATING NOW!!

Not so fast, there, mister...

This morning, I was preparing "brunch" for me...I took a Bob Evans sausage patty that I had prepared last week (broken into small chunks), along with 1 slice of low-fat cheddar cheese, some pepper and combined them into a half-cup of egg beaters...nuked it in a bowl in the microwave for two (2) minutes and thirty (30) seconds...it looked delicious and I know that was going to taste the same way...

BUT...the fatal flaw in this plan was that while I was preparing this entree, I snacked on one of the other patties while doing so...thus, when it was time to enjoy my omelette/souffle', I couldn't...I was full...and it wasn't worth it....

So now, the new, healthier and better eating habit I need to develop is eating ONLY when the fully prepared entree' is ready...no samplling ahead of time...

That's a good one! I have had to learn to cook without tasting everything multiple times. That was tough at first.

Another realization....for me.....

If I don't eat everything on my plate - I can order it/make it again tomorrow.  I don't HAVE to eat it all because it will never be available again. It will be there. Sometimes I felt/feel a real urge to eat it because it is so good. Like I would not be able to get it again.  Guess what - I can get it again.  I can eat it every day if I want. Just not a ton of it.  Which is good.

An important lesson. I'm early out and am struggling with food. I have to set timers to remimetopes lf to eat. Something I used to enjoy so much has now become a chore :-(

It is the same with me in that eating was something I enjoyed...too much...to the point that I was living to eat...hence the MO...

For me, it is absolutely imperative that the relationship between food and me changes...so much so that the old one is all but unrecognizable...that is one of the changes that WLS is affording me the opportunity to make...

I would bid you 'Good Luck' but we both know that luck has nothing to do with it...we'll either make the necessary changes or we won't...but there's nothing with this journey that isn't within our ability to control...the decisions we make, the choices we have are all ours...
