Is it that you are having trouble getting it down (it's nasty, I know!) or is it after the pill is in your stomach that it comes back up?

Yeah, it tastes terrible, huh?  I actually wrote the company a letter about the taste, asking if they couldn't do something to make it less horrid.  They didn't even bother to write back.

What I try to do is to take it with a liquid that has a lot of taste.  A protein shake works well.  Ice tea, not as much.  Water, no way, I can drink a ton of water and still taste it.  If I'm taking it with a liquid that doesn't cover up the taste well, I immediately eat a bite of something after I swallow it.  A bite of protein bar, a bite of something spicy, whatever.

Im over the horrible taste. It sucks but I can swallow it. But once its down in the ol' pouch 15 mins or so.. I start with the nausea. usaully NOTHING but foam and slime comes up. But today I tasted some of the nasty venafaxaline. I hope I dont start losing it. I dread taking it everyday (1x a day) and Im supposed to take it 2x a day but I dont.

This is something to talk to your doc about, but if you are only take half the prescribed amount (one a day instead of two) you might not be getting much benefit from the drug, so there might not be much point in trying to make yourself take it if you're only going to take half the prescribed amount.  If you can't get it down/keep it down, you might want to try a different medication.

Does taking it with food help?  How about with an ounce or two of milk?

I NEVER try to take it without food. Ever. I heard comming off this stuff is the "worst" and, it works pretty good on me so Im going to keep trying to take it. I just wish I could find a food that will coat my stomach good enough to let it absorb/break down without nauseating me.

ive been on it for a long time, and i always had an issue with it making me sick, but before surgery, I could deal with it, but since i also vomit from it. im going to try something new. and yes coming off of it is horrible..the "brain zap" were terrible, the second time  i had to go off of it, i actually counted the little balls inside the capsule so i could wean myself off easier..ughh...i hope to find something new soon, and i hope you feel better

I ended up going off it, because I couldn't keep it in my system consistently enough to help my depression.  I recommend looking at taking something a little less "involved".   It is possible that your needs right now will be very different from what they are long term.  I know for me, things have changed since surgery, although I don't know that they'll stay this good.  For anxiety symptoms, I'm taking ativan at present.  I'm not using an antidepressant, and for the most part, I'm feeling fine.  Call your shrink or pcp.

Hi Liz,

Could you try a different med? I am taking citalopram (generic celexa) and have no issues with it.
