I dont' think they just go away by themselves, no.
I am so sorry you're still dealing with this problem.

Are there any other options of treatments for you? How many dilations have you had now? Is it possible to put in a stent that would keep the stoma open? Or would it be worth considering some sort of revision? I'm not saying those things would be good options, I'm just thinking out loud and wondering about it. You've had so much trouble with strictures.

I have had 5 dilations now. I asked the surgeon if there was anything I could do to prevent these strictures, and also if I needed a revision. He said I don't need a revision and that after 6 months strictures usually stop as the internal healing is generally completed. He thinks my tube, because it makes such an angled descent from the stoma, keeps trying to heal closed. I never asked about a stent but I will check with him on that. Thanks for the suggestion, I can always count on you to be so supportive.
